IMPORTANT RACE DAY INFORMATION
This year we are offering a 2-hour start time window as an additional safety measure to help keep participants spread out during the pandemic. That means you can arrive, check in, and start the race at any time between noon and 2pm. When you are ready, approach the start line where we will manually enter your bib number and assign your official start time. Our timing equipment will automatically collect your finish time at the end of your run. Results, photos, and finisher certificates will be posted immediately following the race at approximately 3pm.

Register for the New Year's Day 5K and/or the New Year's Eve 5K you will automatically be entered in the ISORunUSA Winter Challenge! This virtual event allows you to run up to 6 different distances (you choose) and everyone receives a beautiful 4" custom finisher medal.
Once you sign up for one or both of the races (New Year's Eve 5K and/or New Year's Day 5K) we will automatically (within 3-4 days) add your name as a participant of the ISORun USA Winter Challenge. iRun Western New York proudly presents the 5th Annual 5K New Year's Classic. Two races will be held (one on New Year's Eve and another on New Year's Day) at beautiful Fort Niagara State Park in Youngstown, New York! Runners can sign up to run on New Year's Eve (12-31-20), New Year's Day (1-1-21), or both! We are planning to use USATF Course #NY11071JG and runner/staff safety will be our number one priority. NEW DURING COVID: 2-hour start window (12pm - 2pm)
After speaking with representativies from New York State Parks it has been decided that we will offer a 2 hour window (12pm to 2pm) for runners to check in using our drive thru service and start the race. Individual start times will be assigned to all participants throughout the event. If by chance Northern Niagara County should see an increase in Covid cases causing it to move into the yellow zone, we will add an additional hour to the start window. Should Northern Niagara County move into the Covid Red Zone, the event will be switched to 100% virtual. Both 5K races will start and finish near the historic lighthouse at Old Fort Niagara. The New Year's Eve 5K will take place on December 31st and will feature a clockwise course. The New Year's Day 5K will take place on January 1st and will feature a counter-clockwise course. There will be two water stops on the course and bottled water will be provided to all runners at the finish line.

REGISTRATION & RACE BIB PICKUP (11am until 2pm)
Online registration will remain open right up until the start of each race or until sold out. During the pandemic we will be checking runners in for the race using our convenient drive-thru, touch free service in the main parking lot along the beach. Runners will stay in their vehicles while our staff safely hands you your race bib, timing chip, pins, etc. Bottled water and food will be distributed (grab & go) at the finish line after the race. Remember that we are assigning individual start times to each participant over a two hour period of time (12pm to 2pm).

NEW: Virtual Registration Option
Can't make the race... Participate virtually! Simply sign up for the Virtual Race option during the registration process and then you choose the location and time to get out on your own and run/walk your 5K between 12/25/20 and 1/31/21. Feel free to use the FREE IYR Virtual App to track and score your run. You will also be able to manually enter your finish time directly to the IYR Results Page starting on 12/25 and ending on 1/31/21. We will automatically mail out your New Year's 5K custom race bib along with your ISORunUSA finisher medal (Continental USA only for shipping). I will continue to hold medals and swag for our Canadian friends until we are able to meet again when the borders reopen!
POST RACE CELEBRATION
During Covid we are not allowed to host any type of post race celebration. We will provide all participants with bottled water along with grab & go food (to be determined). The park is open to the general public on both days.
There will be plenty of free parking in the main parking lot near the pool/beach a short 3-4 minute walk to the start/finish area. Please refrain from parking in the Historic Old Fort Niagara parking lot as they are open for business and have asked us to use the main lot on both days.
AGE GROUPS & AWARDS
Hand crafted trophies will be presented to the 1st place overall male and female finishers. There will be no formal awards ceremony during Covid, however all participants can download custom finisher certificates from the event page and view/share finish line photos following the race!
14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69. 70-74, 75-79, 80 and older.

There will be no refunds. In the event of foul weather, public safety concerns, or for any other reason deemed necessary by race organizers (ex: state of emergency, etc), we reserve the right to postpone/reschedule the event at our discretion or offer a virtual alternative if necessary.
TIMING & FINISH LINE SERVICES
Gun start/chip finish timing services using industry leading Jaguar Electronic RFID timing will be provided by Race Management Solutions. Results are updated throughout the race in real time and can be accessed at any time after crossing the finish line using any one of the following options:
